Dr. Ing. Željko Domazet (PhD, University of Split, Croatia) is distinguished professor and Head of Mechanical Engineering department. His main fields of interest are fracture mechanics, fatigue and experimental and computational solid mechanics. Professor Domazet is the author of more than 100 fully refereed papers in well-known international journals and more than 100 papers in the proceedings of national and international conferences. He is currently a member of the editorial boards for two international journals and has served as reviewer for more than 20 international journals. Professor Domazet received a prestigious award in the year 2015 from University of Split. His research lab is now in international research collaboration with several European institutions. He has presented numerous plenary/keynote talks in international conferences and universities. He is regular member of HATZ (Croatian Academy of Engineering) since 1998. and Head of its Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture Department. He was or is leader in more than 10 European scientific projects, visiting professor at several universities, he was dean of Faculty for Electrical Eng., Mechanical Eng. and Naval Architecture (2000-2004) and vice rector of University in Split (2004-2010). He has more than 100 projects for the industry, mostly steel structures. He is president of CRS (Croatian Register of Shipping) commission for rules in Mech. Eng., member of numerous national and international societies, mentor of numerous PhD thesis, MSc thesis and BSc works.
